Hungate Medieval Art Centre
Hungate Medieval Art is a brand new centre for medieval art at St Peter Hungate church, Elm Hill, Norwich. Hungate Medieval Art aims to promote the beautiful medieval artefacts which can be visited in Norfolk’s churches.
The centre currently focuses on Norfolk’s stained glass. Visitors to the centre can explore the development of stained glass over the medieval period and look at the people and processes involved in its production.
The exhibition is illustrated by a series of beautiful illuminated images of glass from around the county and the church’s own 15th and 16th century stained glass windows.
On special occasions, a local stained glass conservator can be seen working on his latest commission in the centre’s workshop and a giant light-box with hands-on activities provides fun for children.
The opening of the centre also means extended public access to this beautiful 15th century parish church.
Hungate Medieval Art is open Thursday to Saturday 10.00-16.00.
