The church dates from the 14th century. Substantial alterations have taken place  since this time including : the addition of a Perpendicular tower c1400, a refurbishment early in the 16th century, the unfortunate loss of the chancel and a full 19th century restoration by Frederick Preedy.The latter work resulted in the installation of stained glass including works by Mayer (a member of the renowned  Munich School ) and Arthur Louis Moore.
